Concept and Preliminary Design
GREENXIP assists shipowners and building yards by providing tailor-made ship designs to fulfil customer requirements for velocity, performance, autonomy, stability, productivity and sustainability.
GREENXIP’s knowledge to carry out the development of the complete engineering process from the proposal phase to the detailed production engineering enables us to make the difference from the beginning of the shipbuilding path so we can make sure the needs of the client, the timely execution of the project and the observation of the budget are strictly followed.
Our deep understanding of the constructing process in different materials together with our cutting-edge software applications allows us to engineer solutions that comply with the most demanding structural specifications.
The company’s department of mechanical engineering is well trained in the conception of all kind of ship systems and can cover any need that the client may have in that respect.
Whatever the needs of the customer, when it comes to technical support at the preliminary design stage, GREENXIP has the breadth and depth of knowledge required to develop practical and feasible engineering solutions for a concept without compromising the original design intent.
Additionally, our procurement as well as our engineering department maintain a strong relationship with key suppliers, which permits us to team up with them to guarantee technical feasibility and offer our customer the best and most competitive technical solutions driving costs down for CAPEX and OPEX.
Class Approval Design
Class Approval design entails the development of all foremost documentation needed for appraisal by Flag and Classification Societies. Due to our broad and unified approach for the engineering project, GREENXIP can effectively provide Class approved drawings and documents for vessels from 15m to 105m in length.
With experience in dealing with the main CCSS our engineers in GREENXIP can effectively deal with the design requirements and with the comments coming from class on the different drawings.
When needed GREENXIP is able to defend the interests of our clients should an issue arise with the classification society. Knowing the inspectors of the CCSS personally also helps to expedite the approval process and the comment closing activities.
GREENXIP produces top-of-the-class quality CS documentation packages as well as technical specifications. These will be the basis for the development of the detailed engineering project as well as a more detailed reference for the estimation of costs.
GREENXIP can provide document control services as well as detail planning for the Engineering works. In that way, we are able to ensure that the supply chain of the ship starts with the right foot. Purchase are issued on time and according to the technical specification. The lead times for the different elements are well considered to ensure that the Production Department will receive the components on time and guarantee a smooth execution of the project.
Production Design
GREENXIP supplies fit to purpose keen on added value detail production engineering. Our work does not end with the delivery of the production information to the Yard. We also provide assistance for the work preparation activities and help the building department with production support to solve any possible open end that typically appears during the execution phase.
Working in close cooperation with our customers, we start the elaboration of the production information with planning and a plan in mind.
While thinking about the building plan and starting to generate detailed engineering information, it is paramount that the shipyard standards are known and clearly communicated.
Handling the detail engineering phase in quite an early stage of the supply chain of the ship, clear and strict planning needs to be followed to ensure that the overall delivery of the vessel is not endangered.
Handling the detail engineering phase in quite an early stage of the supply chain of the ship, clear and strict planning needs to be followed to ensure that the overall delivery of the vessel is not endangered.
The engineers of GREENXIP are used to working with this methodology, following planning and delivering the information on time.
The production experience of some of our employees helps us safeguard that the building strategy is in line with the normal construction standards and that the production personnel and the detail engineering team members “speak” the same language as regards manufacturing procedures and standards.
The detail engineering team is also in touch with the surveyor of the CS.
That way, the possible hick-ups that the CS can find in the detail engineering design can be corrected before manufacturing occurs, reducing in that way expensive and avoidable re-works.
Naval Architecture
GREENXIP retains more than 25 years in Naval Architecture knowledge working with companies all over the world. Our years of experience but also, the wide variety of ship designs we have worked with, and our comprehensive technical insight allows us to be in the vanguard for innovation and reliable development of hull shapes and functional but also attractive ship concepts.
Our portfolio of services in relation with this discipline contains, among others:
• Stability calculations
• Weight and COG estimations
• Proposal design
• Creation of the technical spec of the ship
• Propulsion system concept design
• Seakeeping behavior of the ship
• Hull fairing
• Speed prediction assessment
• Load line Convention requirements and other typical statutory requirements
• Compartments
• Fire integrity
• SOLAS and MARPOL application
Mechanical & Systems Engineering
GREENXIP’s ample record in the design of ship piping systems and mechanical designs in accordance with the classifications society rules and the demands of clients and shipyards make us the perfect partner for providing the necessary mechanical engineering solutions that are required onboard.
As in the other engineering disciplines the mechanical systems engineering effectivelly approaches with a combination of experience, computer applications and good in-depth knowledge of the techniques involved.
As a first step a layout of the main machinery spaces is created in accordance with what is described for machinery systems in the technical specification.
To ensure that the manufacturing of pipes and systems goes smooth and within the budget, our engineers consistently ascertain that the routing is done in the simplest way possible.
Further it is paramount that all systems are properly integrated and coordinated so no collisions are later found after manufacturing and during the mounting of the elements onboard. This prevents expensive re-works and ensures seem-less production processes.
Ease in the use of the mechanical systems afterwards is as well considered as a main factor.
Spare parts management advice is also possible and will later help to keep the up time of the vessel.
GREENXIP can also offer assistance to integrate the systems of the ship into the SCADA system on board so even the last valve of the ship can be controlled from one of the wheelhouse touch screens.
Structural Engineering
Our engineers have a long record in designing structures in all materials: RFG, Alu and carbon steel. Our years of experience but also, the extensive variety of ship designs we have worked with, and our comprehensive technical insight allow us to create bespoke designs with a production-friendly engineering package and an eye set in cost and time efficiency.
Our scope in this matter covers, among others:
- 3D model of the structure
- Shipbuilding repair evaluations
- Production support
- FEM analysis
- Class approval
- Basic structural design review
- Weight reduction studies
- Special local calculations and reinforcement advice
- Acquisition of data for refit jobs
Engineering using 3D scans is also possible and can be used in case of complex refitting works. Via this system, it is possible to replicate reality in a 3D environment that will later be used as a base to further develop any possible change in the piping systems and the structure for repairs and refit purposes.
